You can tell me if my setup is more wet/dry or stereo: guitar > fuzz > wah > stereo tremolo. Then both sides go through a stereo looper, and the top channel has an OD250/RAT combo before the solid state 1x15 combo (it needs the help, dirt-wise). Bottom channel has ring mod/synth > delay into a tube amp and closed-back 2x12. So the idea of a Wet/Dry/Wet setup is: 1. Front of the amp (usually) mono effects (e.g., Wah, compressor, distortion, phasor, Uni-Vibe, maybe Flanger) to into the amp model. 2. The path after the amp (and optionally cab/IR model - depending on the configuration) is split into a dry path and a wet path. 3. A guitar rig where the dry, unprocessed guitar signal is sent to one amp and speaker(s) while a second signal, featuring the wet signal from delay, reverb, chorus, and/or other effects is routed to a completely separate amp and speaker(s). In other words, one amp receives the pure dry guitar signal, while the other only receives signal that has been processed with effects. Wet/Dry/Wet Rigs Some guitarists feel that using effects loops to blend effects with their dry tone is a compromise, affecting the immediacy and feel of the tone. The advantage to running a w/d/w rig is that you keep your dry guitar-amp-cabinet tone intact, and add effects independent of your dry signal. *HIGH QUALITY AUDIO ALERT!* Listen to isolated guitar stems with headphones if possible for the best results! Wet/Dry/Wet is a term that gets thrown around a...

April 24, 2017 - Regular viewers of TPS are no doubt familiar (and probably a bit envious!) of the wall of amps looming behind where Dan & Mick sit each week. Of course, they look nice but sound even better, especially when a few amps are run together in stereo or in wet/dry rigs.
August 29, 2019 - They could EQ, compress, gate and set levels of the dry amp completely separate from the wet amp and vice-versa. In a live mix, the difference between a good sound and a great sound can hinge on being able to tame the wet mix and dial it in for the room. The wood in a guitar can swell tremendously, causing glue joints to fail, finish to lift, and neck angles to go bad.
